Hostel on Przegibek

The Przegibek pass is located within the perimeter of the Żywiec Landscape Park, the group of Wielka Racza, in the border range between the peak of Bendoszka Wielka and Bania. Bendoszka Mała rises on its western side. On the pass itself and on its western slopes there is the settlement Przegibek, consisting of several households inhabited by ca. 30 people. A little shrine sits near the hostel, by the black trail between the hostel and the junction of trails running to Wielka Rycerzowa and Wielka Racza. On the nearby Bendoszka Wielka there is the Millennium Cross, consecrated on 16 September 2000.

The history of the hostel reaches back to 1923. Initially there was only a small holiday home here, whose host received visitors from the Ski Club trips he organised. In 1935 the Branch of the Polish Tourist Society in Dziedzice purchased the building from its heirs and opened a hostel, which after numerous modernisations operates to date. Currently the hostel on Przegibek offers 38 beds in 2-, 4-, 6, and 10-bed rooms. In the attic visitors are free to use a TV set and a ping pong table. The hostel also has a Russian banya – a hot water barrel, heated with a wood burning stove. In winter skiers can use a groomed ski slope with a 350-metre-long T-bar lift. There is an option of renting ski gear and taking skiing lessons with a professional coach. Visitors can also organise any sort of function in the hostel: a wedding reception, a birthday party, or a team building event.
