Hostel on the Krupowa Meadow
The Polish Tourist Society (PTTK) Hostel on the Krupowa Meadow is located in the Babia Góra Range, near the border of the Żywiec Beskids and the Makowski Beskids, between Zawoja, Jordanów, and Zubrzyca, ca. 10 km to the north-east from Babia Góra. The Krupowa Meadow is intersected by the Main Beskids Trail, running from the Silesian Beskids as far east as to the Bieszczady Mountains, and the hostel offers a trail leading straight to Babia Góra. The area provides excellent conditions for fans of mountain biking and ski-touring.
The first hostel was opened here on 16 December 1935 upon the initiative of the Sidzina Commune and branches of the Polish Tatra Society in Jordanów and Łódź. It was burnt down by the Nazis in 1944, and the reconstructed facility re-opened in 1955. Visitors can use 38 beds in 2-, 4-, 10-, and 16-bed rooms. The local kitchen serves traditional Polish food. In the stylish, spacious dining room for ca. 30 people you can find some breathing space, admiring the exceptional view outside. The southern windows overlook the panorama of the Tatras and Orava. The hostel also houses a station of the Mountain Volunteer Search and Rescue Service.
