ACCOMODATIONS

Hostel Skrzyczne

Skrzyczne is the highest mountain of the Silesian Beskids. It is 1257 m high and it is very steep (the gradient of its eastern slopes at times reaches 45%). On one side it rapidly falls onto a wide and deep valley of the Żylica river, on the other on the flat lands of the Żywiec Basin. If you plan to go to Skrzyczne, bear in mind that due to considerable relative altitudes (ca. 750 m) and winds that often blow on the peak, the temperature on the very top can be even several degrees lower than at the foot of the mountain. In the 1950s a chairlift was built on the slopes of Skrzyczne, and in 1970s a ski resort was opened on Małe Skrzyczne, with a well-developed system of ski trails. In 2017-2018 the complex was thoroughly renovated. A network of modern ski lifts connected the Sports Centre and the Szczyrk Mountain Resort into one of the best and biggest ski resorts in Poland. In summer the lifts are used by tourists and mountain bikers, for whom Enduro Trails have been organised.

The hostel was built at the end of the 1930s. Its undoubted advantages are its location, its stylish wooden interiors, and its ambience. Dining room windows and a spacious terrace in front of the hostel offer a panoramic view of the Beskids. If the visibility is good, you can even see the distant range of the Tatras. The facility has 35 beds. It is possible to organise birthday parties, bachelorette and bachelor parties, a small wedding reception or after-party, or even a team building event here. The hostel also hosts numerous sports and cultural events. In summer the Regional Beer Festival is held here.
